Library & Learning Center @University of Economics and Business in Vienna, Austria

Due for completion this year, the new Library and Learning Center for the University of Economics and Business in Vienna, Austria, is certainly determined to make a very strong statement in terms of how its library design will integrate with its library functions.
Created by Zaha Hadid Architects who won the library design competition in 2008, the new Library and Learning Center takes the form of a cube with very clean straight yet fluid curved lines, reminding me of the stratified rock layers in Grand Canyon.

Linking the academic zones at the center of the campus, the LLC comprises a “Learning Center” with workplaces, lounges and cloakrooms, library, a language laboratory, training classrooms, administration offices, study services and central supporting services, copy shop, book shop, data center, cafeteria, event area, club room and auditorium.
