Everyone needs a little company and books are no exception. You only have to spend a little time in your neighbourhood library and ponder the hundreds of titles on the shelves to realise that, yes, many of these books are, sadly, a little ‘lonely’ and in some need of a caring readers’ hands and heart.

To encourage students to read and discover some ‘hidden gems’, the plight of the lonely book has been highlighted at a neighbourhood school in Singapore and it seems that the notion has captured the imagination of a number of curious students.
