Singapore is known as a Garden City so it came as no surprise recently to witness a section of its bustling shopping precinct, Orchard Road, turned into a rather pleasant, though ornamentally disturbing, backyard! The temporary setting was created to promote the Singapore Garden Festival that was held at the Suntec Internati0nal Convention & Exhibition Centre in early July. With exhibits spread over 2 hectares on two levels of the ‘Centre, from ornamental orchids too complete garden settings, the bi-annual festival is Asia’s largest. This year it coincided with the opening of Singapore’s ‘Gardens by the Bay’.
