In the days where print is the only medium for newspapers, getting rid of old newspapers is one of the most regular task that libraries need to do. You can easily do the sums – if a library subscribes to 2 copies each of 5 local/foreign dailies, that’s 3,650 copies of newspapers, which I will leave to your imagination to visualise what the library office will look like if they were not gotten rid of fast enough.
If we could have creative library patrons like Nick Georgiou who turns newspapers into art, our problem would have been solved easily.
